## Sources, and what each one supplies

- NPPES (Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services), monthly full-replacement
  file, public domain: provider name, credential, specialty taxonomy, practice
  address, phone, licence number and state, enumeration date, last update date.
- Google Places API: star rating, review count, website, opening hours, up to
  five reviews, and place geometry. Review text is displayed with the author's
  name and is never shown more than 30 days after it was retrieved.
- U.S. Census ZCTA gazetteer, public domain: ZIP code centroids, used to place
  a provider on the map when the street address could not be geocoded exactly.
  Pages say when a pin is a ZIP centroid rather than a street address.
- DentalPeach's own reviews: submitted through the site and read by a person
  before publication.

## The Peach Score

A number from 0 to 100 calculated by DentalPeach. It is not a Google score and
not an endorsement. Four weighted components:

- Google star rating (35 points) — 5.0 scores 100, 3.0 or below scores 0, linear between.
- Google review volume (25 points) — logarithmic; ~25 reviews is roughly half marks, 250+ is full marks.
- Findability and upkeep (20 points) — three equal checks: a website on file, a phone number on file, and an NPPES record updated within five years.
- Reviews left on DentalPeach (20 points) — average rating scaled by how many reviews exist.

A component we cannot measure is dropped and the remaining weights are
renormalised, rather than being scored as zero or estimated. Every profile
states how much of the 100 was actually measured. The full method is published

The Peach Score says nothing about clinical skill, training, or complaint
history. None of that is in this data.
